Concept Paper
The need for a Multi-Stakeholder Forum (MSF) emerged as
a result of the Conflict Transformation Workshop for Political parties
that was held in April 2005. At that workshop and in subsequent meetings
with the Parties, Civil Society and other stakeholders, the Ethnic
Relations Commission was mandated to pursue a MSF that would be truly
national in character, i.e. include the communities and Regions of
Guyana, and that would help in the identification of pressing national
issues and their possible solutions. UNDP will facilitate the MSF
through the provision of technical, financial, and other needed support.
This concept paper seeks to outline the basic steps
that would be taken to ensure that the MSF succeeds in meeting the
objectives desired by stakeholders.
